MattAndChristy.net
Contained within these electronic walls you will find all manner of nonsense that either of us have been involved with. OK, well, mainly it's Matt's stuff, since he's the computer geek. But you might find stuff from Christy, too. Enjoy.
Ribbon and Colors
Why is this site orange and maroon; why is the background a ribbon? This is my memorial to the lives lost on April 16, 2007 at the amazing Virginia Tech. None of my immediate circle of friends was harmed; I was nearby but never in any danger. Nonetheless, Virginia Tech and Blacksburg will never be the same, and I can't forget what happened that day. —Matt
T-shirts
I've created two designs for T-shirts; they're for sale at Orange and Maroon on CafePress. I do not make any profit off these; they're at CafePress's base price.
Photos
We got married in November 2005. We have two cats. We have friends. What do those things add up to? Pictures!
GreaseMonkey Scripts
Matt has made a couple of interesting GreaseMonkey scripts for various web games he plays. Check them out:
  • Urban Dead Revive Radar: Zombies got you down? Need to become human again? UDRR will show you the closest known revive point in the game. Note that I don't maintain the RP list anymore, but the script still lives on my server.
  • Shartak Map Overlay: Before there was the awesome UBER MAP project, there was SharMap. If you have the Exploration skill on Shartak, you can view not only where you've been, but where everyone else who submits to BlackAnt's community map has been. Cool!
Web Games
As you can see above, Matt likes web games a little. Twice he has tried to create them.
  • The first time: Down Here is little more than a couple of mocked-up screenshots and a planning wiki. It will probably never come to be, because it's too big an undertaking for one person alone and I don't have time anyhow. Still, the concept is neat.
  • The second time: PixelWorld actually runs and has a few players. However, I ran out of time to keep updating it, so it's on semi-permanent hold as far as development. People are actively coloring the canvas, though.
Web Projects
Here are some smaller demos and projects Matt has worked on.
  • Brewsburg: this was to have been a continuously-updated "on-tap" list for every bar in Blacksburg. I was going to recruit a few beer inspectors who would keep me up to date on exactly what the various bars were stocking. That data would be used for several different purposes: the first, obviously, is to wrap it in a pretty interface and make it a resource for the community of good-beer-drinkers. I also intended to run statistics on historical availability of beers, clusters of beers available, similarities between bars, etc., mainly for my own personal interest. But who knows? In this era of "Web 2.0", maybe someone would have bought those numbers from me!
  • AJAX Adventure: my absolute first try at AJAX technologies. This game is "complete", that is, what you see is all I intended. It is not by any means an enjoyable game, though.
  • TroyMap: my friend Troy took pictures of his daughter at as many of the fiberglass Hokies as he possibly could. He wanted to put them up on the web in a gallery format, but I said we should do a map with all the locations marked and hoverable. He thought it was a cool idea, and this is the prototype I created.
  • Old New Design: in 2005, when I worked at the New Media Center, I was working on a new design for this website. It was in blog format, and I was getting pretty happy with how it was looking. Then I decided I'd probably not keep up a blog, so I scrapped it. It's still almost-complete, though, and if I change my mind about blogs again, this is probably what'll go up here.
  • KoL Fight!: JavaScript-based fighting game I started working on a loooong time ago. I used to play Kingdom of Loathing, and this was some "fan art" I wanted to create. It has a pannable camera and some neat technology that lets it queue up the moves you want it to make. In this little demo, if you hit "Fight" enough times, the characters will eventually scroll off the screen. Maybe I'll finish this someday, it's a cool prototype with a solid design.
